One of the best jobs that I have had thus far in a career that spans 10+ years, was as the Illustrations Editor for the UWO Gazette. During this job, it was my responsibility to draw daily comics, lay out the comics page for a bi-weekly publication date, and do editorial cartoons.
Each year that I was at University, I thrived because I was also able to create something that I cared about. Making others laugh, making their day even in such a small way. There has always been an affinity for cartoons growing up, from the walt disney movies, to the Sunday Newspaper funnies.
I always enjoyed art, I always enjoyed drawing even as a kid. So when I can find an opportunity to turn this passion into a life life opportunity - I will take it!
It was even because of a web-comic that I had in high-school that inspired me to go into graphic design at college. My first college degree, which resulted in a life-long career and a lot of jobs because of it. Simply, I would not be here today if it wasn't for drawing and wanting to have an effect on the lives of those around me. Even if it is in only a small way.
This will be the first of many posts moving forward, as a place to show off some of the cartoons that I made during my tenure there. From Editorial cartoons, to even a lot of medically inspired cartoons.
